Hello to all Community Band Festival Participants!!
Rehearsals for the 2011 Festival are on Wednesday August 31 and September 7 at 7pm at Northampton High School in the band room. Copies of the music have been made for all parts, but to cut down on paper, we will be sharing music. There will be two people to a stand. If you want to play a solo part, you must be at the rehearsals at Northampton High School. Bring stands in case we run out of NHS stands. Please send this notice to others who may not have received it.
Points to Remember on the day of the Festival:
- Tell the person at the Look Park gatehouse that you are in the band so you can get in without paying the admission fee to the park. Admission is $7 per car otherwise (still pretty cheap for a quality concert!)
- Park at the bottom of the hill right before the tennis courts in the lot behind the visitor center or go around the park and go into the train/zoo lot. Please leave the lot that is on the right immediately after the Pines Theater for those with lots of equipment or for those who can't walk as far. Leave instrument cases off to the side of the stage.
- Concert dress is black bottoms and white tops.
- Please arrive to the park around 12:00 pm, but please don't sit down until Priscilla Ross gives the okay since chairs are being moved around and it is much easier to do that without people in them!! Rehearsal will begin promptly at 12:30 pm. Concert time is at 3 pm. We will rehearse until 2pm and then have an hour of socializing and food.
Things to bring:
- Music
- Music Stand
- Clothes pins or clips to hold music
- Finger food (chips, cookies, fruit with toothpicks to make it easier to eat, small sandwiches, veggies with dip etc.) and/or drink to share. JFK will be having a bake sale.
- Water
- Sweater or jacket (it sometimes gets cool on stage later in the afternoon
- Banner from your band
If the weather is iffy and you are not sure about where the concert will be held, call my cell: 413-320-7597 or check the Florence Community Band web site. We should have a decision by 9:30 or 10am. If the location has changed, I will try to send emails as well. I will also put a sign up at the gate house at Look Park.
